I usually try to avoid posting political opinions here because I live in the Bible belt and was never that great at the whole political debate thing, but this has to be spoken upon. Since President George Bush couldn’t be known for finding weapons of mass destruction, it seems that he’s decided to live up to another lofty goal. In an impressive feat, USA Today says that Dubya just broke the record for being the U. S. President with the highest disapproval rating EVER since such statistics started being kept. Impressively, he’s also the president that has the highest approval rating ever. Now that’s really something to have screwed up.

A stunning 69% of Americans disapprove of President Bush’s administration, beating the previous record of 67% held by Harry Truman in 1952. And why not? I mean, he only started an illegal war without the approval of the United Nations, knocked the country in said war into a humanitarian disaster and civil war (as many as 90,000 Iraqi civilians dead to date) that has resulted in the destruction of many archaeological and cultural treasures, sullied the United States’ reputation to virtually all nations outside of the Western Hemisphere, invaded his constituents’ personal privacy with illegal wiretaps while telling the courts the check and balance system didn’t apply, vetoed numerous proposals by the Congress to make real progress to make himself feel like he has some use, sabotaged the findings of many scientists that climate change is a real and immediate threat that even China is now addressing, oversaw the ruination of the country’s economy and… ah, I’ll stop there. WordPress can only hold so much text.

It has been said before of President Bush that if nothing else he stands steadfast by his convictions in the face of all criticisms to do what he feels is right. Well, that’s true. It’s just becoming more apparent that he’s standing by himself, because very few agree with him. What’s the worst politician? One who doesn’t stand by his views or one who doesn’t stand by the views of his constituents? George Bush, you’re a failure to the American people that somehow put their trust in you. Twice.

Go Obama! Boo Hillary and McCain. We don’t need George Bush III in 2008.
